2.8K Shares Share It’s not often that you get to sit down with the person who’s selling you your Kindle ereader.
But when it happens, the experience is quite unique.
After all, when it comes to e-books, no one has ever seen a Kindle before.
So you get the feeling it’s not an entirely new thing.
I’ve never been to a store where I’d bought an ebook from Amazon, and even though I’d been in the market for a Kindle for a while, it hadn’t occurred to me until this point.
But the fact is, I had to go to the Amazon website and click on the “buy now” button to start my Kindle shopping experience.
This is where it starts to get a bit confusing.
For a long time, I thought I’d just click the “Buy Now” button and I’d be on my way.
Then I realized I’d actually done exactly that.
I’d typed in my e-mail address and Amazon would give me a confirmation page, and I was redirected to a page where I could enter my shipping address, which was all fine.
So I was on my Kindle.
But there was a problem.
This was a Kindle I’d already purchased and I wanted to keep it.
I clicked the “Keep” button, and Amazon’s interface was blank.
So there was no indication at all of what was happening.
So what do you do?
I clicked “Back” and my Kindle returned to the Kindle store.
And then I got a new confirmation page.
And it said, “Sorry, your e-book was not found.”
So I clicked again and my e to e book search page was blank again.
I had clicked on “Continue” and I got nothing.
So now I thought maybe I had done something wrong.
I went back to the website, clicked on the button again, and there it was again: a blank e-paper page.
So after a while of searching, I clicked on Amazon again, clicked “Continue,” and it did bring up the “Amazon Kindle Store” page.
I checked the shipping address and it said it was free to ship.
So this time I clicked to continue and Amazon told me I could get my ebooks for free.
I also got a confirmation that I was now a customer of Amazon, so I was able to start making purchases.
But now Amazon was saying it would be about 45 minutes before I would get my books.
So if I wanted more than two books, I’d have to wait a few more minutes before the freebie started.
So it was not a very good experience.
Now, I know that if you’re in this situation, it can happen to you.
But I found myself in this awkward position, as if Amazon had just given me a hard time and said, sorry, it’s about to take an extended period of time to ship my eBooks, and that my orders would be delayed for a little while.
Amazon did send me an e-Book Delivery Form that showed me how long it would take for my order to be processed, and it was the exact same as what I had already used.
And Amazon also provided me with a message that said I had 30 days to get my items, and a new “Delivery Notification” email would be sent when my orders arrived.
But then I clicked that and it still wasn’t working.
I tried to click on another confirmation page and I saw nothing.
Finally, I pressed “Continue.”
And again, nothing.
And the e-mails just kept saying, “We’re sorry, you need to wait for your orders to arrive.”
I went on and on about Amazon and how great the customer service was, and the fact that they’re the ones selling me my Kindle, and then when it was my turn to buy something, they weren’t there either.
Amazon finally emailed me back saying they had sent a replacement product to fix the problem, but it was just not what I wanted, so now I had my Kindle for free and they were going to charge me for it.
So finally, I went to Amazon’s support department and got a message from Amazon’s VP of Customer Care, who said, I understand your frustration, but we can’t offer you a free Kindle until we get your order back.
So that’s it.
Now I was left with nothing.
After a while Amazon would start sending out e-Mail alerts for my purchases, but the whole process took forever.
It was frustrating, but I just couldn’t give up on the Kindle.
I finally bought one from Amazon and I can’t thank them enough for the experience.
They did a great job on the eBooks themselves, as well as on getting me the right e-Paper book, which is really hard to find.
And of course, Amazon is a very powerful company, and if you can get your hands on an Amazon Kindle
