The next time you’re at Walgreens or Target or Wal-Marts, expect to see a large selection of items from many of the big-box retailers.
The online shopping giant will open a shopping center in East Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday, July 16, in an effort to get the nation’s retail giants on the same page with consumers about how they can shop online.
The Cleveland center will be the second in the country.
Last year, Target opened a new $100 million online shopping mall in St. Louis, Missouri.
It also has a $1 billion online shopping platform in Los Angeles.
The shopping center will have a big focus on Walgops, the company’s grocery delivery service.
It will also be home to a new Walmart online store, where shoppers can shop from a variety of products, including clothing, shoes and accessories, according to Walgens spokeswoman Debra Shindell.
The retail giant plans to invest $1.5 billion in new brick-and-mortar stores, including two in Ohio and one in Kansas City, Missouri, according, according the company.
The Cleveland center is the second online shopping destination in the Midwest.
Last summer, Target announced it was opening its first online store in Akron, Ohio.
Target announced its new Ohio store last month, just days before it opened its Kansas City store.
The company is also adding a new online store to its store in Dayton, Ohio in September.
Target will open the new Ohio online store at 10 a.m.
Thursday.
The Columbus store is expected to open by the end of the week.
The Dayton store will open its doors in early September.
Shindell said the Cleveland center won’t be the only Wal-mart online store.
In August, Target said it would open its own online store later this year in Ohio.
Shawn Knepper, vice president of online retail at Target, said the company is committed to attracting new customers to its new online site and is excited to partner with Wal-greens and other brands to give them the opportunity to get their products in-store.
Target said Wal-Greens was a great partner to work with on this project, she said.
Walmart will also have stores in Cleveland and St. Joseph, Missouri; Omaha, Nebraska; Cincinnati, Ohio; Memphis, Tennessee; and Nashville, Tennessee.
Walgreens, the nation ‘s largest discount retailer, plans to spend about $100 billion on its online retail operations by 2020.
It will have more than 1,500 locations in North America, and it operates more than 2,000 stores.
Target has 1,100 locations.
