By MELISSA SHEPPARD Associated Press WriterThe Kroger grocery chain is trying to stay one step ahead of competition in the online grocery market, and it’s trying to do it by selling its products in the physical store.
Kroger announced Wednesday it is selling online and at Kroger Supermarkets stores through the end of 2019.
The online stores sell groceries online, but the stores also carry groceries at Krogease locations.
Kroger has sold more than 1 billion groceries in more than 50 countries since its online store opened in 2014.
Krogeas sales have risen by over 200% since its first online store, at its flagship grocery store in Los Angeles, opened in 2015.
“Online is a big opportunity for us,” Kroger Chief Executive Officer Chris Dunn said in a press release.
“It’s been a challenging time for our business.
But Kroger is focused on the next chapter, which is to create a new future for all of our consumers and our employees, with a focus on making the store experience as simple and convenient as possible.”
Krogeas customers can shop at online stores in more stores.
In addition to the Kroger online store and the Krogea store, Kroger also offers online at Walgreens, Sam’s Club and Target.
In the past, Krogees online stores have been more expensive than its Kroger stores.
The company’s stores are more than 40% cheaper than its competitors.
Online shopping Kroger announced in June that it will expand its Krogeese stores by adding more than a dozen locations, and is looking to expand further.

Kroes online sales are up more than 30% from last year and are expected to surpass $1 billion this year, according a report by market research firm Euromonitor International.
Online shoppers like the convenience and convenience of the Kroganas stores, but also want to get the products faster.
“Online shopping is a great option for Kroger because we have a great selection of items,” Dunn said.
Kreger said online shoppers have been coming to Kroger since its start.
“The Kroganese store has been a great success for our customers and we know that Kroger customers are looking to shop online,” Dunn added.
Kelsey Grammer, the executive director of the nonprofit National Grocers Council, said Kroger was an ideal choice to sell online because the stores offer everything from grocery staples like fresh fruits and vegetables to groceries that are more expensive.
“We know there are people who are looking for something that they can’t get at Krogers stores,” Grammer said.
“They are looking at Kroges online and Krogeates Kroganes and they are finding everything.”
The online and online grocery categories are growing faster than the grocery categories, which are also growing faster.
According to Euromonitors, online shopping grew 6.9% in 2018 to $1.45 billion, which represented a 10% increase from 2017.
